Frequently Asked Questions

When is the DIAL Attendee RSVP Form deadline? 

The form will officially close on Friday, January 31st, 2024 at 11:59 PM PST, thought we will try our best to accommodate students who personally reach out and want to attend.

Is this event free of charge?

Yes! DIAL is a high school conference completely free of charge. Everything will be provided for by PREP besides transportation that the school may provide. Please keep in mind that because this event is free, we have limited space. 

Is this event in-person or over Zoom?

DIAL Destiny 2025 will be in person. It will take place in Ackerman Grand Ballroom at UCLA. 

Do I have to identify as Filipino or Filipino-American to attend DIAL?

No, all high schoolers, regardless of background, are welcome to sign-up.

Do I have to express interest in applying to UCLA or a UC university to attend?

No, all high schoolers, regardless of future plans, are welcome to sign-up.

What will I receive prior to the DIAL conference?

Assuming you filled out the Student RSVP Form by the deadline, you will via email receive a DIAL Itinerary, the general DIAL GroupMe, the DIAL Liability Release Form, the DIAL Media Release Form (must be signed and turned in the day of DIAL), and other logistical information.

What workshop opportunities are available to me as an attendee?

We will have workshops about financial aid, applying to college, professional development, cultural awareness/cultural relevance, undergraduate admissions, mental health, ___, and success in community college. You get to attend three of the eight.

At what time will DIAL start?

DIAL student check-in is from 9:00 - 9:25AM PST. Students are expected to arrive within this period. Expect for the event to officially begin at 9:25 AM PST with Opening Remarks in Ackerman Grand Ballroom.

Are my parents/guardians welcome to attend DIAL?

Unfortunately, parents/guardians are not able to attend DIAL due to capacity.

Are my teachers welcome to attend DIAL?

We welcome teachers and administrators to join you during the main assembly room conference events. They will receive separate instructions. Please have them email us at dial.preucla@gmail.com if they have any questions.

How do I join the DIAL GroupMe?

When you complete the DIAL RSVP form, we will email you a variety of logistical information including GroupMe information. Please watch your inboxes.

How will I attend the student panel?

The student panel will occur in Ackerman Grand Ballroom from 11:25 AM to 11:50 AM.

What is Sala Talks?

Sala talks come from the Tagalog word for "living room." This period of time is meant to mimic conversations that might occur in a living room. It will be from 10:55 AM to 11:25 AM and 1:55 PM to 2:20 PM. In-depth and catered discussions about academics, extracurriculars, and related will occur. More information will be provided during the conference.
